I am currently on my first test run of MacOSX, and has been the last 7 months now. During that period I have installed and tested almost every program that seemed the least bit interesting – and there’s a huge heap of interesting applications out there, I promise you. The result is that I have achieved a pretty unstable OSX installation.
Applications are segfaulting at random, and stuff generally does not work any more. The machine is slow and even crashes or freezes at random, some days twice a day.
If this was Windows I would switch back to Linux again, cursing the day I first installed Windows on the poor computer. But I kind of like OSX (understatement of the day) and I want to keep using it. In the last 7 months I have seen what works, how to do things, and what takes so much work cleaning up after that there is no point in fixing it. I have also found a lot of great programs, and those are the reasons for this post. Keep reading for finding out what I use!

Argh!!
Last night 5 of our friends + 1 kid came by for a barbecue in the warm but windy weather. We actually had problems getting the charcoal grills burn properly

Finally we made it work after sacrificing a lot of ignition fluids and hand-growing hairs… Since we live very close to Sweden where the meat is cheap and the beer is water we had a lot of various meats on the grills, things like pork chops, grill ribs and spicy sausages was on the menu. Most of the goodies where sent along down to the food processing organ with a solid dose of red wine and beer ;P
Actually that wine and beer has to take responsibility for my slugginess and reluctancy do other things than surfing the web today… gah.
I am intolerant towards most types of paint, something which makes it kind of difficult to be around the house when my wife as a part of our redecoration project paints the wall before I am going to apply the tapestries. So I had to make my escape down to the local student pub.
As always, the pub is almost totally empty, except for the old semi-alcoholics that hang around here for the cheap beer and free newspapers. Fine by me, they make the place survive.
The pub, named “Studentsamfunnet” or just “Samfunnet”, is my favourite hangout in my home town of Halden. They have great coffe, cheap (sort of) beer, clean toilets, great music and free wireless Internet. The perfect place to blog.
Took this picture yesterday, did some cropping and leveling on it.
